FanLit Forever is holding it’s one year anniversary, and launching a new blog, http://www.RomanceRoundtable.com. To celebrate they are throwing an online party.

Guest speakers on the blog include: Eloisa James, Harris Channing, Jenna Petersen, Toni Blake, Anna Campbell, Ericka Scott, Sherry Thomas, and Tessa Dare.

On the board at http://www.ChrisJournal.com/fanlit/ there will be games, prizes, a writing contest (books and gift certificates $5-50), a chat session with Victoria Alexander, a discussion about Harlequin with Michelle Willingham, and Larissa Ione will do a meet and greet on the forum.

The party starts this Monday, October 29th and runs until November 7th, and you are all invited. Eloisa does her blog on Monday, so don’t be late!

Duh!

Amidst all of Sindee’s exciting news, I totally forgot to mention that Lord Andrew received Honorable Mention in the PASIC Book of Your Heart Contest. Silly me!

Lord Andrew will be on a short hiatus as I try to find ways to breath life into my story. The consensus say I have too many characters in the first chapter. Also there are several who call my story ordinary. And one judge said my dialogue is stilted and not period appropriate. Period inappropriate, maybe. But stilted? I think not. If there is anyone out in cyber-la-la land who has read my story, is it stilted? I usually get great comments about my dialogue and how natural it sounds, so to see the stilted comment, kinda threw me for a loop.
Cheers!

Hop over to my “friend” Sindee Sexton’s blog for some good news. She was totally shocked.

Lord Andrew’s Update

Hey all! The results are in and Lord Andrew’s Match took 3rd place in the Golden Claddagh’s Historical category. Woo hoo! I get a bronze Claddagh pin! Isn’t that so cool? Now if only I could figure out what to do with the 50K or so words that need revamping :)

Toodles everyone!
*dancing her little jig*

PS, I’m up against a golden heart finaling manuscript in the PASIC contest. Stranger things have happened though, right?

Love,

Cindy

Good News!

My “friend” Hyacinth Hawke has some great news. It appears that her very steamy Fantasy Romance entitled Wings of Desire has finaled in Red River Romance Writer’s Ticket To Write contest in the “Hot & Steamy” category. Woo hoo! Wish “her” luck! It goes on to be read by Kate Duffy at Kensington!

Well, as for me, it appears Lord Andrew did not final. But Hyacinth’s final makes up for it!

YAY!!!!

I was told all the calls went out for the Maggie. Since no call came my way, I can safely assume I am not a finalist. I’m not too pressed, though. Again, it was the prior version with the unremarkable heroine. There’s one more contest I want to enter Lord Andrew into, then after that I’m going to hold off on entering it into contests until I get all the story’s flaws figured out. So for now I’ll concentrate on Hyacinth’s faerie project. She wanted me to let you all know that she will be officially at the halfway mark today. However, she may end up expanding it to 80-85K depending on her plot twists and turns. Keep your fingers crossed!

Wow! Part II

I just realized this: Not only does the PASIC BOYH Contest welcome published and unpublished authors, it’s also judged by booksellers and librarians. Now if booksellers and librarians like your stuff, that means good things, right? I almost forgot, the finalist judge is an AVON editor. How cool is that? I was all geeked about that then realized they’ve probably read some of my stuff already. But it’s still awesome!

Here’s some more eye candy for you all! Is it just me, or does this guy resemble Orlando Bloom?
Green Knight

Wow!

I was bummed to get my Molly results the day before I left nationals. The scores compared to the the royal ascot scores, in the 80’s. Not too shabby. The judges said my heroine was not memorable. This was already pointed out to me by a totally awesome goddess of the critique. So that really didn’t faze me all too much. I guarantee you all, she is very memorable now. Another judge said my story was cliche, since both heroine and hero were attractive. God forbids, I guess only ugly people fall in love. They also said my hero being rich and heroine being poor was cliche. But if something is selling, is it really cliche? I don’t know about any of you, but I love me a little cinderella now and again.

So after that, I went to nationals, had a great time. Met a bunch of cool people. Made new friends. Got to cling onto some sexy knights in shining armor. Molly was in the back of my head. And you know what? It still is because….

Yesterday the Historical Coordinator of the PASIC Book of Your Heart contest called me  (The day after my birthday, none the less) to tell me Lord Andrew’s Match is a finalist. The thing that is unique about this contest is it is open to Published and Unpublished authors alike. I didn’t know that fact until someone just pointed it out to me. So there’s my news.

Oh, here’s something for you all to enjoy:

Blue Knight for ya!
